Dale Dwayne Moore, well known La Grande denturist, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2025 at his home in Cove at the age of 78.
Dale was born on April 19, 1947 in La Grande to Lloyd Earl and Phyllis Maxine (Shaw) Moore. He began his education at Willow Elementary School in La Grande. After graduating from Baker High School with the class of 1965 he entered the U.S. Navy and served as corpsman to sailors and marines. During his time in the service he received numerous awards including the Bronze Star. After his honorable discharge he returned to Baker and became a denturist. On August 30, 1969 he was married to Francine Elaine Zita and they made their home in Eastern Oregon where they opened Grande Ronde Denture Service in 1981, in the Sac Annex. In 1983 they moved to Cove, becoming longtime residents and eventually building a new house in 2016. In 2010 they remodeled and moved the business into the old Shakey's Pizza building.
Dale loved hunting and fishing, traveling the Oregon coast and salmon fishing and he loved horses.
Family members who remain are his wife of nearly 56 years, Fran of Cove, a son and daughter-in-law Shawn and Kristina Moore of Arizona, siblings Darlene Ferry of Bellevue, Washington, Teresa (Randy) Nordquist of Pocatello, Idaho, Kevin (Stacey) Tatlock of Ontario, Curtis (Kerri) Tatlock of Baker City, Jan (Nick) Kovach of Olympia Washington, Cinda Moore of Cedar Hills Utah, Lisa Moore of La Grande Oregon, along with many Nieces Nephews and Cousins.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son Nicholas David Moore, brothers Donald and Jeffrey Moore and a sister Christine Sawyer.
Dale helped and touched many members of the community over the years and will be greatly missed.
Viewing hours will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, July 11th at Daniels-Knopp Chapel
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at the Cove Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. A gathering for friends and family will follow at the Cove Sportsman Club.
