Dr. George Franklin Elrod

Dr. George Franklin Elrod, 56, of Starkville, Miss., and formerly of Union County, died March 22 in Tupelo, Miss. Burial was at Oktibbeha Memorial Park.

Dr. Elrod was born in Union County. He graduated from Mercer Island High School and was the recipient of the distinguished service award from Mississippi State University. He was a professor in the department of counseling, educational psychology and special education at MSU. He was a member of the Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Elrod, and a daughter, Andrea Elrod, both of Starkville; and his mother Rose Marie Blake Elrod of Tavares, Fla.
