Gloria Darlene Wherley was born on April 16, 1962 in Hermiston to Alfred and Murial (Krohn) Wherley. Growing up in Starkey and La Grande the mountains were always her home. She traveled far and wide but always returned home.
When she was in the second grade the family moved to Starkey and La Grande.
Gloria worked at Lumber Company, Helicopter Logging and as a Traffic Control Supervisor for a paving company.
She was a member of the Faith Lutheran (Missouri Synod) Church in La Grande. She enjoyed crafts, painting, gardening, flowers, hunting, fishing, and all things outdoors.
Relatives who remain are her children Travis Stephens of Las Vegas, Nevada, Raniel Stephens of Richland, Washington, six grandchildren, and her brothers Wayne and Dave Wherley, both of La Grande.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sister Nancy Yancey.
Gloria was a strong independent woman who battled cancers for over a decade and passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025 in La Grande at the age of 63
A service will be held Friday, August 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church, 104 S. 12th Street, La Grande.
