Herbert Lavern Roundtree

Herbert Lavern Roundtree, 89, formerly of La Grande, died April 6 at home at Hayden Lake, Idaho. At his request no services will be held. Private inurnment will be held at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d'Alene, is in care of the arrangements. He was born Feb. 16, 1921, in Weskan, Kan. He was retired from the Union Pacific Railroad.

He lived in La Grande until 1983.

Survivors include step-daughters, Josephine and her husband, Charles Kliphardt, of Garfield, Wash., and Kay and her husband, James Graham, of Anchorage, Alaska; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Lillian Roundtree of Denver; and several nieces and nephews in Colorado and Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine. She died Dec. 2, 2001.
