Pearl Irene Pierce, 84, of Pahrump, Nev., and formerly of La Grande died Oct. 1 at South Hills Hospital in Las Vegas. A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 at the Elgin Community Center.
Mrs. Pierce was born May 22, 1921, to John and Emma Raymond in Black Rock, Utah. The family moved to California, and on July 28, 1949, she married Artie Gay Pierce Jr. in Las Vegas. They moved to Oregon in 1955 and raised their children in La Grande before moving to Pahrump in 1989.
She played a violin in the church as a teenager and loved music. She took great pride in her family, and enjoyed crafts and crochet.
Survivors include her husband of Pahrump; children and their spouses, Artie and LaLa Pierce of Tillamook, Lindsey and Carolyn Pierce of Summerville, Ray and Marilyn Morrison of Pahrump, and Roberta and Dale Witherspoon; 19 grandchildren, 26 great- grandchildren three great-great-grandchildren. Four sisters, two brothers and two grandchildren died earlier.
