Jerry D. Sandland of Island City, died at his home on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at the age of 71.
A memorial service will be held Monday, May 13 at 4:00 p.m. at the Riverside Park Pavilion
Jerry Daniel Sandland was born on May 13, 1952 in Danville, Kentucky, the son of Joseph G. and Bertie (Worrell) Sandland.
Jerry worked for the Bonneville County School District in Arizona as a bus driver and mechanic. He came to Union County 25 years ago.
He loved model railroad trains, restoring Volkswagens, busses and bugs, most recently the latter. He loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting and just sitting under a tree in the sunshine. He loved to see the bright smiles of his grandchildren and lit up whenever he was around them.
Jerry is survived by his children, Kristina & Cody Wigginton of La Grande, Johnny II & Patricia Wigginton of Island City, grandchildren, Chloe Wigginton, Alaina Bradshaw, MacKenzie Wigginton, Sophie Silva, Atlee Silva; brothers, Joseph of Portland, Melvin of La Grande, Gabriel of Hamilton, Montana, Stanley of Payette, Idaho and James David of Shelby, Montana.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Sandland.
