Jimmie (Jim) Dale Evans Jr., 70, of La Grande, Oregon, passed away on August 25, 2025.

The funeral session will take place at Grandview Cemetery on September 4th at 2pm with a reception to follow at the Island City Mormon Church. 

Jim was born on July 26, 1955, to Jimmie (Jim) and Charlene (Char) Evans Sr. He graduated in 1973 from La Grande High School and soon after started his 40+ year career as an Engineer with the Union Pacific Railroad.

Outside of work, he was an avid golfer and longtime member of La Grande Country Club. He loved hunting and fishing with his dad while seating on the bank talking about how to solve world problems, eating his moms delicious food, spending time with his family, playing with his grandkids and great grandkids. Known for his love for music, giving a ear for others to lean on, his sense of humor, and many friendships he cherished, Jim touched countless lives and will be deeply missed. 

Jim was married twice, His first wife, Diane Villines, he had a daughter, Mandi Parsons. He later married Carin Evans, with whom he adopted her daughter, Jenni Gettman, and together they welcomed a son, Jimmie Evans III.

He is survived by his parents, Jimmie and Charlene Evans Sr.; his children, Mandi Parsons (Chris), Jenni Gettman (Gabe), and Jimmie Evans III; grandchildren Makenna Stone (Seth) and their sons Knoxxen and Miller, Raileigh Parsons and her daughter Hayven, Kardyn Parsons, Annie and Charlie Gettman; his sister, Cindy Johnson; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who loved him dearly.

Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents, his brothers Rick and Kurt Evans, and his grandson Draek Parsons.

His legacy of love and laughter will carry on in the hearts of all who knew him.
