Kyle R. Pickens, 37, lifetime resident of La Grande, died Friday, May 24 at a hospital in Kennewick from complications of lifelong battle with diabetes.
A memorial service will be held Friday, June 7, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. at Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center in La Grande. Private inurnment will be held at the Grandview Cemetery.
Kyle Ray was born on February 15, 1987 in La Grande, the son of Kirk and Sharon (Houston) Pickens. He was raised and educated in La Gande, graduating with the class of 2006 from La Grande High School.
Kyle enjoyed virtually anything outdoors, particularly in the mountains. Some of his favorites were camping, hunting, fishing, huckleberry picking and mushroom hunting. He loved dirt biking and four wheeling. He’ll be remembered by his family and friends as a kind and good hearted person.
Surviving relatives include his parents, Kirk Pickens and Sharon McCollum, both of La Grande; his children, Carson Ray and Ryder Lee Kerley of Reedsport; siblings Bryan Pickens, Debra Houston, Khase Green, all of La Grande, Karrah, Krystal and Kali Pickens, all of Montana; grandparents, Marie Houston of La Grande, Brenda & Dave Hickey of Upper Perry; aunt Arlene Houston of La Grande and Will Pickens of Lapine numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and many friends.
Kyle was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Delbert Houston and Willfred Pickens; uncles, Leo and Donald Houston, aunt Shirley Spray.
