Ruth Reynolds Preston

Ruth J. Reynolds Preston, 83, of Woodburn and formerly of Elgin, died October 7, 2004. Burial was at Restlawn Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Preston was born January 13, 1921, to Clarence Edgar and Margaret Elizabeth Barnes Merritt in Elgin. She graduated from the University of Oregon and performed on the radio and for the USO during World War II. On January 3, 1945 she married Donald Lee Reynolds. The family lived in Texas, Seattle and Salem. After his death she married Philip G. Preston on December 26, 1969. The couple lived in Salem until moving to Woodburn recently to live with family.

Survivors include her husband of Woodburn; a son, Don M. Reynolds; a stepson, John Preston; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
