Sylvia Ann Chrusoskie

Sylvia Ann was born on August 2, 1948 in _LaGrande, Oregon to__, the daughter of Jim and Agnes (McCain) Hicks.  The family moved to Elgin where she mostly grew up until moving to Pendleton where she graduated with the Pendleton High School Class of 1966. She worked at several places and moved a couple times enjoying life and working! On November 12, 1974___ she was married to Philip Eugene Chrusoskie in Joseph at her parents home.  Sylvia worked for Evergreen Health & Rehabilitation Center (now La Grande Post Acute Rehab Center) as a certified nurses assistant for several years. Sylvia and husband Phil also did foster care for a few years.  After __40_ years of marriage he preceded her in death on November 7, 2017.

Sylvia lived in Joseph, Elgin, Pendleton, Imbler for several years, then Bend before settling in La Grande in recent years.  

Sylvia was an active member of the Imbler Christian Church where she enjoyed the ladies bible study groups.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing, canning, hunting, fishing, animals, family time, camping, huckleberry and mushroom picking. Mostly she loved kids and took many kids into her home, no questions asked. She throughly loved her grandkids and spending every moment with them. In recent years her favorite past time was playing with her great-grandkids.  

Relatives who remain are her children Linda and husband John Burger of Scappoose, John Chrusoskie of Redmond; a brother Larry Hicks and wife Paulette Hicks of Elgin; grandchildren Austin Sutton and Nicole Sutton and Rylie Chrusoskie; great-grandchildren Lizz Zollman and Lane Sutton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brothers Jim Hicks Jr. and Steve Hicks.

A service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Imbler Christian Church.

Sylvia passed away Monday, September 29, 2025 at her home surrounded by family in La Grande at the age of 77.
