Sylvia Rogers passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at her home in La Grande at the age of 94.
Sylvia Lou was born on January 4, 1931 in McMinnville, one of three children of Samuel E. and Edith Estelle (Nichols) Elliott. She attended schools in Malheur then finished high school in McMinnville.
On July 27, 1950 she was married to Kenneth Rogers in Payette, Idaho. Together they had four daughters Karen, Christine, Kathryn and Sonya.
Sylvia worked for General Telephone Company as an operator, traffic clerk and supply clerk in their warehouse before retiring.
With her husband and family she enjoyed fishing, wood cutting, camping and wildlife watching. She especially loved family history and spent countless hours researching and compiling her research and sharing the information with family members.
Relatives who remain are her daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Butch Brown of Medical Springs, Christine and David Giese of La Grande, Kathryn and Jon Schmidt of Milton-Freewater, seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by her daughter Sonya, her brother Ladd Elliott and sister Rosemary Paolo.
Contributions in memory of Sylvia Rogers may be made to the Heart and Home Hospice or the Community Connection of Northeast Oregon.
A graveside and inurnment will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grandview Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband and her daughter.
