Viola Jane "Fried Eggs" Blake, age 82, passed away peacefully at Blue Mountain Home Care in Elgin after a lengthy illness,on Thursday, April 10th. Viewing will be held on Monday, April 14, 2014 at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street in La Grande. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elgin Community Center Park Pavilion with a potluck to follow. Viola was born in Oakland, California to James and Lila (Stevenson) Rasmussen. She married Dale "Hippie" Blake in 1949, they were married for fifty-seven years. They had three daughters. Viola enjoyed rides in the country, mushroom hunting, crocheting, reading her Bible, writingrecipes poems and painting. She enjoyed and loved her family and friends. She will be truly missed.
Survivors include her daughters and their husbands, Madge and David Flower of Elgin, Vickie and Dan Reynolds of Elgin and Shirley Doud and Gary Dyste ofTidewater, Oregon; her sister Luella Gibson of Anderson, CA; six grandchildren, Danette and Matt of Kodiak, Alaska, Robert and Heather of La Grande, Vickie Reed and Michael of Apache Junction, Arizona, Heather Wiley and Bryon of Elgin, Frank Little and Jen of Billings, Montana and Melissa of Elgin; sixteen great grandchildren; Stephon and Nicole of North Dakota, Mariah and Bruce Babbitt of Soldotna, Alaska, Alesia and Steven Shook of Marysville, Washington, Maranda Reed of Arizona, Marissa of Arizona, Eugene of Arizona, Winona and Chris of Elgin, Shad Groven and Nina of La Grande, Vanessa Crawford of Washington, Sara and Patrick of Washington, Geoff Crawford of Idaho, Steven and Danny ofLa Grande, J.D. of La Grande, Curtis Little of Elgin and Gage Little of Elgin, Mathew Krause and Alisha of Hillsboro; five great great grandchildren, Jesika Babbitt, Annie Babbitt, Abraham Babbitt of Soldotna, Alaska, Alison Shook of Washington and Kaden Little of La Grande.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband 'Hippie', two young sons Robert Dale and Dale Stewart, granddaughter Dale Ann, and great grandson Eugene Reed III.
