Doris J. (Pelser) Falk

Doris J. Falk, 93 of La Grande, died Thursday, September 13, 2023 in Baker City.

A service will be held Tuesday, September 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the Island City Cemetery.  Services are entrusted to Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center of La Grande.

Doris June was born, one of eight children, to Albert and Amy (Walburn) Pelser in Steel City, Nebraska.  After coming to Oregon Doris lived in Hermiston, La Grande and Meachem before attending Eastern Oregon College to get her teaching credentials.  After becoming a teacher, she taught fourth grade in Elgin at the Sella Mayfield School before becoming the librarian for the remainder of her career.

She was married to Lamon Falk on October 15, 1955.  He preceded her in death in 1998.

Doris enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, hunting and fishing.  She would tackle any task and once built a fence around her backyard.  From digging the holes and setting the posts to hanging the fence, all by her own hands.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law Donna Hart, 7 grandchildren, Brad, Brenda, Corey, Scott and Kevin Hart, and Tisha Butler and Todd Silcox; her sisters, Pauline and Lois.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by both her sons, Terry L. Hart and Kenneth “Joe” Hart and her siblings, Keith, Clare, Mildred, Marien and Jean.
