Joseph (Joe) W. Lovan of Union died Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at his home at the age of 54.
Joseph William was born on March 14, 1969 in La Grande to William Henry Jr. and Patricia (Rogers) Lovan. He was raised and explored all of the mountains surrounding La Grande. On November 11, 1990 he was married to Wanda “Wendy” Jones at his grandparents home in La Grande. They made their home for the next 30 years in the Gresham, Troutdale area where he and his family thrived. Building a business, Lovans Tire, in wholesale and retail semi tire sales. In 2022 they returned home to the beautiful Grande Ronde Valley.
Joe enjoyed leather working, building black powder guns, target shooting and fishing. He was also borderline obsessed with his motorcycle. He loved taking long rides on very curvy roads with his wife at his side. He cherished time spent with his children, quading and dirt bike riding on Mt Hood among other activities. He also loved going out and sharing a great meal with his friends. Where a quick debate would ensue as to who got to pay the bill. “Ya gotta be quicker than that!”
Surviving relatives include his wife Wendy, and children Lathanyol Lovan and LaKoda Lovan, all of Union, LaKyta Grant of Portland, LaBreeya Lovan of Troutdale, LaShaiyha Ammons, LaDaiyce Lovan and his bonus daughter Vanessa Spinks all of Portland, ten grandchildren, his parents, Bill Jr. and Pat Lovan and grandmother Madeline Lovan all of La Grande, and a sister Traci Harris of Umatilla. Along with many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son LaChaunce Lovan and grandparents Harold & Edith Rogers and Bill Lovan, Sr.
