Margaret Ann was born May 9, 1943, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her parents, Elmer Roy and Bessie Martha Lucindy (Stump) Howard, raised and educated her in Albuquerque, where she graduated from high school in 1961. She moved to La Grande in 1974. Margaret enjoyed shopping, entertaining, cooking, sewing, decorating and spending time with her family (including her dog Walter) and friends, especially for holiday gatherings. She was a wonderful baker and everyone was jealous of her beautiful garden.

She also loved the outdoors, music and camping, especially at Wallowa Lake, one of her most favorite places.

Survivors include her son, Oley and his wife, Dusty, Darner of La Grande, and her daughter, Darla Darner of Boise; three grandchildren, Dusty, Sonia and LaTisha; and nine great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Shane, and an older brother, Roy.
