Robert Neal

Robert Neal, age 87, of La Grande, died Monday, June 10, 2002 at his home in La Grande.

At his request there will be no public services. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Neal was born on March 25, 1915, the son of John W. and Jessie B. Neal in Buffalo, Wyoming. He grew up on a ranch near the Bighorn Mountains. In 1930 the family moved to Buhl, Idaho and he graduated from Buhl High School in 1932.

Mr. Neal spent most of his working life with Sherwin Williams Company as manager of the auto paint division in Portland. In 1970 he married Mildred Streets in Portland. They moved to La Grande in the early 1980's. Mr. Neal was a member of the Elks Lodge and enjoyed bowling and was an avid fisherman.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Neal of La Grande; step-children, Gayle James of Reno, Nevada and Larry G. Weik of Portland; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by sons, Douglas and Larry and two brothers and one sister.
